U r right it is a community problem. Prevention is always best. Teach children good touch, bad touch at a very early age. There r several good books out that illustrate this in a non threatening way. Never leaving a child unattended and know who u r allowing around ur children and ur home. In terms of the offender sure make people aware of the fact there is someone in the community who has offended and again never leave a child unattended to become a victim to begin with. Any unuasual behavior notify the police right away. U know the saying "It takes a village to raise a child" Good luck but dont put urself in a situation where u can be charged. That is what the police r paid to do. Protect the community I mean .Curious 2006

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I would not contact them or interact with them in any way. I would however should the kids where the house is and what they look like and tell them to stay the h@!! awy from that person if they ever see them. Going on a witch hunt and harassing offenders may lead to problems. In my area the public website give the vicinity of a registrant's residence. Say that there is a large apartment complex that has a registrant. Which guy is it? Is it that guy or the other guy that looks sort of like that guy? God forbid the public website you use has the numbers transposed on the street address. I say stay away and don't try to provoke a reaction. Let the system work.

Well warning people about registered sex offenders is one thing but harassing them by phone is too far. They did wrong sure but chances are if you let it be known that you are watching him by posting flayers then that should be good enough. also making sure that your children are aware and to be careful around the houses of those offenders. Besides that some of them are one time offenders. I have a friend who was dating and underage girl (she lied about her age) and a neighbor turned him in. Not her parents, not anyone in her family but a neighbor. He is now a registered sex offender after spending jail time. People harass him all the time now w/o even knowing his side of the story. Have you ever thought about that?

Good for you.
I do have a problem with the term "sex offender" thought. That can refer to a lot of things. It could be the guy who molested children, or it could simply referee to the 18 year old who got caught having consensual sex with a 16 year old. The term needs to be revised.
I have worked with sexually abused kids, and I have no sympathy for child predators.

Well Brandon, I'm glad to see you ask a question that is not about race. I think all sex offenders should have their hands cut off. If they hurt a child after that they should have their penis cut off and choked with it. I guess we have to choke a woman another way.
Stop spreading racial hate.

it's not for us to do anything about them. if you are taking the law into your own hands you are a bigger criminal than they are. There should be a list for guys like you too so people could harrass you.
