The Charleston is a dance named for the city of Charleston, South Carolina. The rhythm was popularized in the United States of America by a 1923 tune called The Charleston by composer/pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade.

The key to find the rhythmical similarities between the Milonga and Charleston is the Habanera. I do not have Nestor Otriz's extensive collection of music.
The difference between the Habanera and Charleston resides in that the two eight-note (corcheas) of the habanera are replaced by a pause of half notes (whites), and the Charleston's rhythm is
faster than the Habanera's.
