Probablly because when you ask for advice you all ready have your mind made up, and just want confirmation for your thoughts, however if the person doesn't share the same thought, you don't think its helpful.. So I would say denial.

because you want to hear something in specific and when people give you the advice on what you REALLY should do, you don't listen to them. You're looking for a certain answer, but in reality no matter how many people tell you something, in the end you're gonna do what you want. sometimes the decision isn't the easiest to make, but do what is best for your future, not easiest, cause that leads to misery.

Its possible that the people who answered your question didn't understand it but usually its that they gave you advice you didn't want to hear. Usually people want others to be on their side and tell them to do things they want to do so when your given good advice (advice you should take) you dismiss it as bad advice that should not be followed. If you give good advice then deep down inside you know good advice when you hear it. You just wont want to admit its what you should do.

We are such habitual, ego minded creatures; it's hard for us to take into our minds something that even though it helps us, makes us change a part of our life or makes us face the fact that we don't know everything. Why do people cry at funerals or when someone dies, even a stranger? Compassion for one, and for two, it makes us face our own mortality, even though, we KNOW we're all going to die one day.
I know I don't handle critiscim well but, I have been trying over the YEARS to try and accept that I'm NOT perfect or able to do it all...that we need to embrace not only changes to ourselves but improvements.
