I used the Resume Wizard in Microsoft Word 2003 to create a resume however, the resume is 1 and 1/2 pages long. I need it to fit on one page. I have looked on other posts, and have tried the Print Preview, Shrink to Fit, but it says after several attempts Microsoft Word was unable to shrink the document??!! What can I do?

Edit styles that are used in your resume and reduce font sizes and (if applicable) line spacing and paragraph spacing.

It is probably too long to shrink and put on one document. If this is the case, you shouldn't squeeze that resume onto one page! No one wants to read a resume that they need a magnifying glass to decipher. Either figure out where you can cut your resume down or put it on two pages.

If it is just a problem of two lines or so, then increase the margins on the top, bottom, and left and right sides. You can also decrease the spacing between rows by using the format > paragraph menu and then decreasing the space between them. However, this is only for VERY small adjustments.

In these days of businesses closing and laying off people, companies are not negative against receiving resumes that consist of of more than one page. Just make sure the pages contain valid, concise, and useful information.

You should also prepare a resume without any formatting, using hyphens. This is very useful for companies that require you to do your resume on line. If you have your resume set up this way, it will be easy to cut and past it into their dialog boxes.

In MS Word, if you double-click the image that you want to enlarge, it'll open up some image editing tools. You can grab the corners of your pic, which should have dots on it now and stretch the image as desired. Keep in mind tho that the larger you stretch the image, the more fuzzier it will appear. So make sure to start off w/ a good sized picture. Hope this helps!

Here are a few suggestions:
Reduce the font size
Decrease the margins (top, bottom, left, and right)
Reduce the line spacing
Re-word your text to make it more concise

Send the resume to me if you want help.

Strange, it doesn't work... works for me usaully. Why not try the old fashioned way? Make the font smaller! Try it. Also try switching to a smaller font. Does your resume have to be a certain font?

Retype the resume, using a smaller size font.
