The simpsons is just legendary and not many things can beat it. Family Guy is knew on the scene and is simply brilliant its hard to say which is better but its the Simpsons for me family guy is great but the Simpsons has been around for 17 years now and its just simply the best!!!

The Simpsons.
Family Guy's good but...
The Simpsons is funny for everyone of all ages, everyone between 4 and 70-ish can watch it and find something funny in it, Family Guy is more specified to certain age groups and types.
Also The Simpsons is older than Family Guy, and can therefore be classed as 'Classic'.
It also won both 'The 100 Greatest Cartoons' and 'The 100 Greatest Children's Programmes' on channel 4 (although that's not much of a judgement of anything, aslo the Simpons isn't really a children's programme).

The Simpson's will always be the best in my book. I only watched a couple of Family Guy episodes. They were alright. I prefer The Simpson's better, though.
