I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist, so no, I don't think she killed herself at all.

I'm not quite sure who did, but I do know that her psychologist believed she was not in a suicidal mind-set. She had a problem with drugs previously, but she was getting cleaned up, had gotten a new job offer, and was planning a new home.

The main reason I think she did not kill herself was because she was locked in her room, with no access to water. It's possible to swallow pills without any sort of liquid, but very difficult to swallow numerous pills, enough to cause your heart to stop, without anything to wash them down. Plus, when she was found, she was stretched out on her stomach. If it had been a drug overdose, she would have been curled up in a fetal position.

I definitely think the maid had something to do with it. She was fired several weeks earlier, but the night of Marilyn's death, she was in her home washing the sheets from Marilyn's bed. So there was no evidence for the police and they ruled her death a suicide with no investigation. Perhaps the maid was working for someone who didn't want there to be an investigation?

Monroe was found dead in the bedroom of her Brentwood, California home by her housekeeper Eunice Murray on August 5, 1962. She was 36 years old. Her death was ruled as an overdose from the sleeping pill Nembutal. Several conspiracy theories have surfaced in the decades after her death, some involving President John F. Kennedy. There is also speculation that her death was accidental, but the official cause of death was "probable suicide" by acute barbiturate poisoning.

On August 8, 1962, Monroe was buried at Corridor of Memories, #24, at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Allegedly, this was the day she had planned to remarry DiMaggio. Lee Strasberg delivered the eulogy.

I'm not sure the answer to that, but it is a very interesting topic. If you live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, the Texas State Fair has a Marilyn Monroe exhibit. It's in the Texas Women's Museum and it has everything from photos & film clips to dresses she actually wore. It's very cool.
