I really like McPhail, Hendry and Baker as people. But the results just haven't been there. To be honest, I would have given Dusty one more year. Losing Derrick Lee, Kerry Wood and Mark Prior for most of the season would cripple any team. Although the Yankees pulled it off without Scheffield, Matsui and Pavano, so hard to say. I think since McPhail and Baker are gone, Hendry should be gone, too. I hope Dusty catches on somewhere though, good man. Managing the Cubs probably took about ten years off his life with all the abuse in the media.

It does not surprise me but the Cubs problems have never been his fault. Piss poor management is to blame and they need to correct that, not fire a good man in Dusty Baker.

I Think he wanted to go anyway. So it's back to San Francisco or
maybe a trip the our Nation's Capital to replace Mr. Frank Robinson, but I would prefer to see Don Zimmer as National's
new manager.

I think it's about 1 year too late. He did have a pitching staff decimated by injuries while he was there but that's part of the the game.

Does he keep the wristband, or is that property of the Cubs?

It's not his fault that Prior and Wood cant stay healthy. That being said, everyone knows managers are mostly just high priced scape goats.
