Doors MUST be locked during the day. There is no reason to allow anyone from the outside to walk in at any time. Any office building has security that stops people from coming in off the street, why do our kids deserve less???

It's not really a matter of what should be done, it's a matter of what can be done. Schools in general just don't have enough money. They can't worry about how to make the schools safer because most of them, at least the public city schools are fighting to have enough money to continue running. They can't even begin facing the problem of safety.
They could install metel detectors and hire cops to be on duty at the schools, but, that would take away money to pay the teachers with. Which means less teachers, which means less educated kids, which means more violence because in general the uneducated bring about violence.

There is a school for "bad" kids where i live.. I went there once.. It wasnt because i was bad but it was because thats the only way i could pass. Anyways i was only there for 2 weeks because they were so violent. They had metal detectors, they had to search you and evreything. Thats a good way.. Search there pants, and shoes.

unfortunately there are all ready all those things in place What needs to happen is parents need to get involved with raising their kids. I have 2 teenage kids and I'm so involved with their lives it is crazy. Lets face it it is 2006 and is nothing like it was when we were in high school (rather sad actually!)

Parents should bust their kids a** once in a while instead of letting them do what they want and trying to be there friend. Be a parent. If parents acted like parents instead of letting the kids control everything kids wouldnt be getting into guns in the first place!

I totally agree with you! Kids should feel safe in school. It's a crying shame what's going on out there and very scary.Something should definitely be done.
