Absolutely. I haven't bene this excited about a comic book adaptation since hearing about Patrick Stewart as Prof. X.

Actually, I'm equally excited to see Spider Man 3, but that's IN SPITE of the casting. I mean come on - Topher Grace as Eddie Brock? Eh, the Venom effects will probably make up for it.

I think it's horrible. I would guess that Robert Downey Jr. doesn't know the first thing about Iron Man or Tony Stark.

That sounds like it could work. I agree with the comments about his drug problems helping him cope with the alcoholism but I also think that he can pull off the suave billionaire as he is certainly a good looking chap. I gather that an early part of the film has him as a POW in Afghanistan instead of 'nam and being forced to work on the suit so it should be interesting to see how he pulls that off. The whole thing should test him quite a bit and I wish him luck with it as I want to see the film come off well. Good luck to Favreau and Downey.

I love Robert Downey Jr, I think he's a great actor. But maybe a little too old...?

I am sorry I can not picture Robert Downey as Iron Man. I can not picture him in the costume. It just won't fit in my book.

I think that he can play Tony Stark in his alcoholism state, but him as a billionaire and superhero, I am not seeing it.

I like that idea but I last heard Tom Cruise was slotted to play Iron Man which greatly disappoints me as a fan.

I thought it was a terrible choice. I called my friend and told him about it after i saw the news on marvels home page, he cried.
" First they do X3 and now this!!!"
I think either Clive owen or Jim Caviezel would have been good.

I can't think of anyone who would be that much better. So I guess so.
