There are two things that could be wrong with your Laptop, the most likely is that the battery has come to the end of it's life. All batteries have a life expectancy. Some over run this by years and sadly some fall far short.
The other possibility is that the power distribution unit in the laptop has gone faulty this means that there is no power being delivered to charge the battery. However this is unlikely

your battery may be bad... try going here to find some new stuff for cheap! http://www.geek.com The charger is fine if the laptop is still on when plugged in. That is assuming the battery has stopped taking a charge. If the battery is taking a charge, then it means that it's done charging.

One of 2 things, the battery cells are dead or the hardware that senses where to send the power ie: battery % and laptop% could have a problem, I'd go with the battery myself.

It seems that your laptop battery is dead or the charging circuitry is damaged or it could simply be that the contact points on your battery and laptop have become dirty.
