I am writing a paper about what my tragic flaw is, but I can't quite put it into the right words. So two questions: A) does this look okay so far, and B) if my flaw is holding people to too high of standards while being prideful and slightly arrogant, how could I put that?

In every tragedy, such as Sophocles's Antigone, there is at least one character that can be identified as the story's tragic hero; a character can only be identified as such, however, if they posses hamartia. Hamartia is a character's tragic flaw which eventually brings about their downfall, but it is not only limited to fictional men and women- it is human nature that each of us possesses an excess or lack of a quality and that it may potentially cause harm to us one day. As a human myself I recognize the fact that I have many flaws, and that perhaps the most threatening of them all

I think you should try to simplify the flaw you choose to write about. What about - your flaw is that you expect too much out of others? Even that would be too general of a flaw. Maybe you want to write about how you expect others to be good at whatever you're good at, or maybe you're a hopeless optimist, or maybe you just can't deal with the fact that others aren't perfect. The first step to a good essay is thinking out exactly what you're trying to say.

Your essay is fine for a rough copy but I would work on your diction. Here is a version editted just for syntax:

Sophocles's Antigone, like any other tragedy, features at least one tragic hero. A tragic hero is a character who posseses hamartia, a major personality flaw which eventually leads to his downfall or demise. Of course, hamartia is not only limited to fictional men and women; it is in human nature to exhibit imperfections of thought that may one day cause us harm. I recognize in myself several character flaws, of which ____________ (insert flaw) might be the most threatening....

I agree with Sarah. You have a good essay going but make sure you use spell check.

Simplify your "flaw" by stating something like: that perhaps the most threatening of them all is my frustration with imperfect people. and then ellaborate on that ...

Good luck.

This sounds like a good start to me.

Could it be that you have a double standard for people with regard to yourself? You expect that other people should behave in a way that you don't expect yourself to behave?

I'm not sure if this is really what you mean, so good luck with your paper. :)
