I want to record the audio from this conference that I am going to, I have a macbook, what's the best way?

Should I buy an audio recorder specially made for recording conferences or will my MacBook do just as good of a job?

I wouldn't rely on the built-in mic, but you can use the computer itself, yes. Meaning you can use QuickTime or Garageband to actually do the recording, but you'll want to find a good mic that can pick up the entire room and maintain quality. Then you can just record the same way, but the quality of what you'll get will be much better than if you just used the built-in mic.
