It rains there almost every day because warm moist sea air rises up the mountains to the elevation of the mountain tops and condenses there to form rain. The mountain tops are always surrounded by rain clouds. It is the greenest Hawaiian island and perhaps the most beautiful. Most of the famous films (including Elvis!) were shot there. A visit to the lower elevations is not apt to be ruined by rain.

The warmer the air is, the more moisture it can hold. Hot air rises, and so, the hot, moisture-rich air of the ocean and the plants of the island rise, especially with a mountain right in the middle of it. The hot air cools as it rises, and cool air can't hold as much moisture. So it rains...
