I don't see the point of questions like this. Yes, we spell properly and have culture and a long history, but the USA is much bigger. We are not comparing like with like. Anyway, there is no correct answer as people from the UK will probably say the UK is better, and people from the USA will probably choose the USA.

well the UK has a diverse culture and minorities are looked down on less because some of the thing I've seen from the US and heard has shocked me but that's just one side of the US every where has it's bad and good but some place bad or good is better or worst than some places. The UK multicultural side of the UK is more in tune with each other i thing than some places and i like England when it's not raining

I am from neither, but I like both. Each has their own attributes in their own way. Both have culture. All nations have culture for that matter!! Their own culture. And that is why you feel you have 'real' culture!!
I must say, the spelling difference is rather senseless and I do sometimes get confused. Not to speak of the different words used, like dessert and pudding or petrol, fuel and gas and many more examples! But hey! It makes our world interesting and in the end, each nation is unique!!
I am from South Africa. We have 11 official languages. How confusing is that!! And imagine all the different cultures here! What do you think about that!!

I'm pretty sure there's a few people on here who have only ever lived in one country which makes there opinion worthless. I have lived in both US and UK and give you the following.. If you want to be able to have your cake and also be able to eat it, go and live in the states, as long as you are willing to work and take responsibility for your own actions you can have a great life. If you want to pay ridiculous taxes and put up with a nanny state or intend to sponge of the government then the UK is for you. However I would rather be poor in the UK as health insurance in the states is really expensive

I may be English, I may be American, how can you tell, unless you get clues from my answers. Which makes me wonder which is asking the anti American questions, and the anti English, talk about stirring up unnecessary hatred!
Why ask? There are good and bad on both sides of the pond.
Surely there are enough enemies in this world for both countries to seem like a good idea to remain on friendly terms, and this cheap sort of banter does not help.
Remember a lot of our culture emigrated years ago and contributed to form their culture.

I disagree that people in the UK spell properly. I have chatted with lots of people from the UK and I have seen a lot of misspelled words and grammar used the wrong way! ;)

USA - we're allowed to protect our homes, our property and ourselves against criminals. We have freedom of speech, even if it is against Islam. Our sovereignty is not being stolen by a bunch of EU wankers. Our US Muslims haven't attacked us... yet. McDonald's is better than Wimpy's.
Oh, I don't have much against the UK - it has much appeal to it - the history, the beer, the fish & chips(!!), the public transport, and the general affable nature of the British. But I was born here, in the colonies. And I like it here.
-----
Forgot to add about spelling. Those -OUR and -ISE words are just plain wrong! It is colOR, honOR, labOR, and it is analyZe, realiZation, organiZation!

A bit like trying to compare chalk and cheese, isn't it? Everyone thinks their own country is best (except for all those trying to cram into our little island who obviously prefer us!) Personally, I like UK because I feel safer here and like all our 'roots'. But I suppose those from USA feel the same. Still wouldn't want to go there though.
