Are they really scientists?? or are they scientoligists? there's a HUGE difference.

Sounds whacky to me. They could be foodies (or food snobs) and think that nothing good can from a microwave.

Oh, if someone with a pacemaker gets close to one, it could have disasterous effects. But that's only with a pacemaker.

2 factors on your question: the cooking, and the nutrition itself. Many communicate concerning to the radiation coming from the oven. sure, the microwaves use microwave power, at 2.4GHz. even nonetheless, the wavelength at this frequency is approximately 4cm. in case you seem on the grid interior the front of your microwave oven, you are able to discover the holes are approximately 1cm aside (supply or take). it rather is 4 situations extra valuable than in desires to be! fairly, the grid is a lot too small for the waves to get out, an identical because of the fact the holes in a bucket are to small to enable the water out. the 2nd situation is the nutrition itself. The microwaves excite the water molecules interior the nutrition. As they take up power, the start to heat (scientifically: Brownian action. Unscientifically - they wiggle like mad!), which warms up the stuff around them. for this reason, the heating comes from the interior, extremely than outdoors in like a classic oven. nonetheless, warmth is warmth. warmth from steaming (that's what a microwave is fairly doing) isn't any diverse than different varieties of warmth. otherwise, taking a bath could be a risky element! sure, microwaves are risk-free.

try this:

turn on an AM radio channel.
then turn on the microwave thingy.
now listen to the AM radio.
any questions? hahaha

=================

actually I use to work with the stuff.
microwaves don't change the chemistry in the body directly.
in that nothing is ionized.
microwaves only heat up water molecules.
if the heat is not disippated then the metabolism of the cell is increased. like adding heat to drive a chemical reaction.

what is "safe", how much is "safe"
you be the judge.
reasonable people my differ as the lawyers like to say.

Ever since the invention of the home appliance, some people have been worried what problems long-term exposure to low-level radiation might cause. Lately there's been buzz about microwaves, cell phones and convection ovens.

The FDA does not have to approve any home appliances for health safety.

The bottom line is that there is some extremely small risk of exposing yourself to any level of radiation (microwave, electromagnetic), but just going outside exposes you to radiation (i.e. solar) so I'm not too worried.

Now if you go around trying to cook your nose in microwaves then we have a problem....

I am having an ICD/defibrillator fitted as I have an on-going heart problem. I have got to give up my hobby of flying radio controlled model aircraft because the ¼ watt put out by my r/c transmitter could fire the device. The 850 watts of my microwave have no effect. I think they are safe.

Modern microwave ovens are safe. Don't disable the safety feature which turns if off when the door is open!

Gee, one would think that after 20 or so odd years someone would tell us if they were not safe? Sounds like a good book topic and law suit.
