That's a very good question. That happens to me all the time and it annoys the crap out of me; especially when I get to where I begin stuttering uncontrollably! lol

At night my mind does not much care if what it sees is here or there. It tells me stories it invents and makes up things that don't make sense. I don't know why it does this stuff, the real world seems quite weird enough...

Because the synaptical "short-cuts" in our brain, the short-cuts that make us think, are far more faster then the electrical signals that tell our muscles (e.g. tongue muscles) to move.

Actually this doesn't happen to most people. Racing thoughts are a symptom of bipolar disorder. Maybe that's why it is happening to you.
