The egg. Genetic material doesn't change during an animals lifetime, so in order for a chicken to be born a chicken, the embryo in the egg would have to be coded to be a chicken first.

There was actually an article about it earlier this year.

it actually depends on your views on evolution

if you believe god placed everything on this earth then u believe the chicken

if you believe in evolutionm it is the egg b/c the egg was laid by something that was not perfectly a chicken but damn close. a perfect chicken comes out of the egg, having evolved from the not perfect chicken.

my taecher said that the cell came first. the cell is located in the yolk, so must be the egg.
