If your using a pc download DVD Shrink (its free) and convert the DVD into IFO files, then use a program like AOA DVD Ripper to comvert the IFO files into mpeg's/avi's etc.

Long winded but it works!

Can you right click on the file and then select "Save As" from the drop down menu? This works for lots of things, but I don't know if it works on dvd files. Give it a try!
