My mother is going through a divorce with my step father. I dont have a lot of money, but I do own my own house to throw the party! I want to make it memorable, but need ideas!

I think your spot on, a party at your house with her closest friends, surround your mother with those who love her, she'll feel valued, and supported through this rough time....
might want to consider creating an album of her best moments/achievements for her to look back on with pride....

why not do a pot luck party , ask all her friends
to bring a food that they know your Mom will like
& it doesn't have to be very costly. They could make
sandwiches, salads, pasta & then you could just
order a cake. If they are GOOD friends they will be willing to do this & help cheer your Mom up.

if you are inviting guests maybe you could all chip in and get her a male stripper, sounds like something she would not be expecting yet fun for everyone unless there is a religious issue
