I have 2 examples to offer which prompted this question.

1: Although I have never been a fan of Tom Cruise (he was neither box office draw nor box office poison for me), I find since his reeming of Brook Shields about Rx's (not a fan of Rx's either) I have no desire to see any of his movies. This may also be because only 3 of his movies I ever liked ((Risky Business, Top Gun (I watched it for Val Kilmer), MI:1).

2: I have been a big fan of Mel Gibson since the Mad Max days until around the time of The Patriot. The scene where he cried over the loss of his son seemed sooo over acted I began to loose interest. But I liked What Women Want. Anyway, since his recent DUI & accompanying verbal tirade he just bugs me. This also could be because he happens to be a member of the Brotherhood of Pope Pious X (I think that's the one) as is a friend of mine & my friend keeps trying to ram the 'Brotherhood' down my throat. He once bragged Mel was a 'brother' as if to impress me.

I so wish I could remember who first said this, and I'm paraphrasing a bit..."But you will know a country by what it worships." And as a country we worship "celebrity" whether it's actors, personalities, musicians, or athletes...and because of this we spend an undue amount of our time talking about them, looking up to them for advice and generally behaving as if these people...the mere mortals that they are...have all the answers, and then they go and do something to "ruin" our image of them, like Mel, or Tom and everyone jumps all over them for being less than perfect. (not saying you are...just ranting a bit) They are just actors after all. No more wiser than anyone else...they hold no secrets, and no power over our lives other than what we give to them.

Perhaps we could accomplish more with our lives if we just enjoyed the "celebrities" for what they are...entertainment...and leave the hero worship for the truly deserving...like the guy who invented The Dyson Vacuum cleaner.

nicely for starters females finally earned the marvelous to vote. If i did no longer have a perfect to vote i might haven't any function in my government. No say. No perfect to pass with or perhaps run for place of work. i might nonetheless be little greater desirable than slightly property. educational opportunities have been being opened to females to boot as artwork opportunities. As in WWII, in WWI females went to artwork interior the homefront and proved themselves in a position. many females earlier than the 1920's did no longer end 5th grade. i could no longer think of a international the place i could no longer bypass to college and income a level i desire, i could no longer think of a international the place i might in easy terms be conventional as someones spouse.

Honestly if anything, it seems like celebrities are more important. All VH1 and MTV are are shows telling you how much Nicole Richie spent on her shoes and why you need to run out and buy them.
