How do I do business in Canada from Arizona with a company that wants my products?

Question

I have a customer in Alberta that wants my building supplies. What type of company do I form in Arizona or Canada so that I can export my products to them over there?

Also I want to rent a small warehouse and truck in Edmonton,Alberta where I can receive all of the matterials and go there once per week to deliver to job site. May need to hire one employee later on.

You do not need a new or special entity to ship to Canada.

Contact a customs broker to get assistance. The broker will be able to assist you with the export paperwork, tariffs, freight forwarding. etc.

You might have to adjust your pricing if the customer is expecting a certain price point due to any tariffs or freight that would not be included in your domestic pricing.

If sales in Canada turns into something more than an occasional order, you might want to look at different options for structure. That would be a nice problem for you to have.........

If you have a company already you should not need to do much at all but find someone that does freight logistics and they will charge you to get them through customs and perhaps help with the transfer of the goods.

Keep in mind that the exchange rates changes daily and to keep a close eye on it. You may also want to work with a foreign exchange broker to get you the best rate.

Form a family trust and under that trust form an LLC..the family trust would be the member of the llc, the llc would submit the funds made from canada and the tax issues would not be subject in the family trust.
