It is unfortunate that you are grouped into these same categories, the ones you mentioned. Society today doesn't want to take responsibility for its people, never mind their actions. People today have the mentality that if it doenst affect mine, then I dont care. But when it does, its a tragedy and all hell breaks lose and the question, "why me". The whole thing couldve been avoided to begin with if someone just cared. Instead of labeling people and tucking them away out sight out of mind, embrace them and help them. Alcoholism is only one disease, there are many other diseases that are as real among the group of people you mentioned. The problem is that no one wants to look at the "person". Its easy to lock them up, throw money at it, or just plain ignore it exists. You are no different than me or anyone else. Alot of people in this country have to have someone to look down on in order to make themselves feel better about their own lives. To reassure themselves that at least they're not as bad as this or that. Or more recently to cast a stone as to who's more righteous, moral, and a true believer. Unfortunately, given the current political and social climate, these prejudice are not going to change to soon. My suggestion to you is try not to take it personally. Its just ignorance, prejudice, and fear talking.

Unfortunately this is how people in our society talk now to try and get out of the mistakes they make. Look at most court cases, every legal team has a lawyer and a psychiatrist in it to show that the perpetrator of the crime is in fact a "victim". Does anyone remember when Beavis and Butt-head was on the air and Beavis always said "fire"? Some kid set his house on fire and killed his brother and sister and instantly the parent turned around and blamed TV for it. Why didn't anyone ask the parents where they were and who allowed the kids to watch these shows? Who is responsible for the kids having access to their parents lighters or cigarettes? Today people don't ask what made this happen, they will ask what happened to this person when they were young to make them do this now? Doesn't anyone realized that there are just people out there who are irresponsible, incredibly stupid, or just plain evil.

The liberalizing of America has removed personal responsibility for any malfeasance. Now we can blame it on drugs, alcohol, being spanked as children, and we become the victims instead of the criminals.
I think he checked into rehab to hide from reporters until after elections, I think his addiction is secondary to just keeping inaccessible.

I understand you very well; and you have stated yourself very well. I just don't get Rep. Foley, blaming alcohol for his troubles with teenage boys. Is he telling us that he was drunk on the job, while voting? Does it make anything argument he has made, bill voted on, and other related business; invalided?

Well its because no one takes personal responsibility for anything.
I do not believe alcholism is a disease I think that is a cop out by people who are too mentally weak to control themselves from drinking.People in this county are too weak to control themselves from doing anything bad, so they say oh it wasnt me I have a disease of an addiction, when what they have is a lack of self control and will power.
