Lip locking is part of the mating ritual. They also will kiss to chase someone out of their territory and to scrape algae off.

They test each others strength by doing this, I have a 3 inch kisser that bullies my 6 inch albino oscars. He rules the roost in my tank, I feel sorry for the others sometimes, but all he does is a kiss and a little chase to display dominance, he'll get a good fright one of these days when the much bigger oscar bites back.

They have only just heard that their is something called 'french Kissing' and still trying it out. What is better than a bit of tonsil Hockey, hey that is what they are doing, they are bored and playing tonsil hockey.

i dont know why but i have two one male one female and they are always at it unless the male decides to chase the female then kissing stops

its just a mode that all the fishes face, i belive it was past down by generations ( only becuase curisotity). They keep on intending to do this, this is why there so unique.

it is a dominance type thing. kind of like how two bettas will flare up if their bowls are put too close together.
