Meercats are great little warriors with clans that fight one another. Check out Meercat Manor on Animal Planet. Be warned though, if you are an animal lover, it can be brutal and sad at times as it is no holds barred. Interesting show though.

Of course they do over a number of reasons.. One of the main reasons is during mating season.. they pick out a female and it is THEIRS and everyone else keep away.. this, in itself, ties in with territorial rights, etc
