Almost none, in most High-schools Tennis isnt a popular sport so you wont have a lot of comp- for the "Varsity 7" spots. [And some schools will only have 7-10 players.]
At the highschool level there are 3 singles games and 2 doubles games. Whomever wins 3/5 is the winner for the match.
Also if you have schools that have more than 7 people then when a court opens up you will play Exisibition (JV) games for practice and fun.

A minimum of weekly lessons with a USPTA/USPTR certified Teaching Tennis Pro is a start. Also, find other players that are either already on the team, or, trying to make the team, and play with them as much as possible. Most High School's, or School Districts, have summer tennis programs, so definitely contact your Coach or Atheltic Director.

Depending on the size of your school, you should be able to hit all strokes and be able to get most of your shots in the court. Most people can play lower spots on J.V. without having much experience. If you are looking to play higher level J.V. or Varsity, you must have recieved formal instruction at a tennis club or from a coach.

Every school varies. It depends on the number of kids trying out, the ability of the kids trying out, and the school's history with Tennis. You may also want to practice overheads, volleys, and lobs. Besides practicing there is not much else that I can tell you. =]

It depends on the school. At my school, people just had to be willing to work hard, and there were no cuts, but maybe if there's a lot of people it would be harder. Just be optimistic and have confidence, I'm sure you'll do great. Good luck!

This depends on what league your school is in, and how well your team has done in the past few years. Some schools don't make cuts.

It depends. If you live in southern California you have to be great. If you live in Montana ) do they even have tennis courts in Montana?) you can probably get on a team, if they have one, just by knowing the rules.

you have to be pretty good. If you can hit back well, set people up, learn a little more rules so you can play competitvely and if you can get the player out well, then you should be fine. Hope u get in! :D
