I'm writing an essay about this author which is all I know about her. I've searched for information but only found books written by her. HELP!

She is the author of childrens books, primarily for black children.
Her first book was published in 1970 called "Brooklyn Story". This was followed by "Sidewalk Story" in 1971 and "Teacup full of Roses" in 1972. She has won just about every award there is for children's book writing.
