My son is 4 1/2 months old and he weighs 17 pounds, he's big but doesn't have huge fat rolls or anything, he's just big.

He eats 8 to 10 ounces of formula (I was unable to breastfeed) every 3 to 4 hours. We've put him on some foods, like cereal and a little bit of green beans, but it doensn't stop him from eating the same amount. I have a doctor's appointment on Friday, but I thought I would get some mom and dad opinions. I really didn't think much about how much he ate until we were in the hospital for a seziure and the docs were surprised he ate so much...I didn't ask then because I was more concerned with the seizures...he's fine by the way.

He does sleep through the night about 8 or 9 hours.

My son was the same way! He ate a lot along with eating at least 8ozs of fomula every 3 hours. He weighed about the same too...maybe a little more. He's 11 months old now, and has thinned out a lot from crawling and walking. Don't worry! You son is completely normal!

My son was the same way. First off, it is normal for a breast fed baby to eat more often than a bottle fed baby because breast milk digest easier. My son however was 16 pounds at three months and 8lbs 4oz at birth. When he was 3 months old we started him on rice cereal because he was ALWAYS hungry. At 4 months I started him on jar baby food (also rice cereal) and gradually different varieties. He continued to fatten up however the weight gain slowed down He is now 8 years old and is right on target for his age (his is a little on the short side, I guess he got that from me but other wise he is health and in no way overweight). So I say as long as he is not obese or your doctors don't have any concerns continue to do what you feel is best. I hope that he remains healthy and I am glad to hear that he is fine.

You could try cutting back to 5oz of formula and add 1 oz of powdered baby cereal. You must make the nipple hole bigger if you do this. If you have not already tried. My kids always ate a lot but thinned out as they learned to walk and became vertically active. Glad to know the seizures where nothing big.

I think your son sounds like the average healthy baby. I know my daughter drank about that often too. My doctor never was concerned though. They always asked at each of her appointments how much she was drinking a day.

8-10oz at one feeding is way to much.He should be at 4-6oz at only 4mths old every 3-4hours.And only on cereal not baby food.He is young & does'nt need the sugar that is in baby food.It is bad for them.Start him on first foods when he is 6mths old. Please stop giving him so much formula at one time.

Yep! I prepare dinner my own popcorn on the range. I only place some veggie oil on the backside of the pan, pour some kernels in, and in a jiffy I easily have a ordinary bowl of popcorn. The oil in the pan moistens the popcorn so as that no butter is needed.
