I never had one before but i went for an interview for a job and when i was half way through the interview when i was asked a question my mind just went blank and i couldnt think of anything to say to go with the question. Around me went a total blurr and i felt like i couldnt breath and i was just babbaling on about nothing. My heart was racing and i felt like i was going to pass out. The interviewer had to stop and start again. Its not like me to get like this as im usually fine in interviews. Does this sound like a panic attack.

Hi
yes it sounds like a panic attack. A panic attack is a feeling of extreme fear and anxiety and can set of a whole range of physical sensations. Including heart racing (palpatations) breathlessness, feeling of being disconnected to your surroundings and a fear of going crazy or dying in some cases. Dont worry it dosent mean you will suffer another one as there are so many ways to deal with panic attacks. Simple breathing exercises can help(take long deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth).

Even though you may feel bad dont worry its very unlikely that you will pass out and although its uncomfortable it will pass and its nothing to worry about. If you keep having them on a regular basis it would be advisable to see your GP. I suffered a course of panic attacks myself because i was unhappy at university, but they passed in there own time.

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

It certainly sounds like a panic attack. Its very easy to talk yourself into one again but almost as easy to talk yourself out of one once you recognise the signs. Now you know how it affects you, relax your shoulders and breathe slowly, but not too deeply - focus on the end of your nose and feel the cold air going in and the warm air coming out. This may take a little bit of practise, but persevere and it will work - I promise you.

Remember, that there is nothing physically wrong with you and that you can control how you feel - it is the fear of the loss of control that usually triggers these attacks. You may feel that learning relaxation, perhaps yoga, may benefit you.

Good luck, learn to relax and it will pass.

a panic attack usualy consits of uncontrolerable hyper-ventolation and palpertaions. brought on by extreme panic. but there are other symtoms. it sounds to me like you did. but even if you didn't. don't let yourself get that stressed out! it's not good for your health. yoga really helped my panic attacks as you have to learn how to control your breathing.

Did you eat before the interview? While some of what you describe could be associated with panic disorder, alot of what you describe such as difficulty thinking and feeling faint could indicate low blood sugar.

Yes it does indeed, I used to get them to the point where the emergency services were called out three times. I can't tell you what I did about it though, because no drugs or chemicals were involved - someone might therefore complain that it is advertising. Good Luck!

i think you had an anxiety attack due to nerves.
try to forget about it, the more you wind yourself up about it the more likely it will happen again.
im sure the interviewer understood
good luck with the job x

It sounds exactly like one.

Don't let them take hold from now on. Nip it in the bud now, believe me, you don't want to live with those. Total nightmare.
