I can't answer your question and hopefully the previous ones did, but I did see a Peregrine last week over my back yard in Los Angeles. Interestingly, I also sighted a Cooper's hawk last week. The Peregrine is far more rare (for me anyway), and I have only seen a handful in my life.

In England there are now more peregrines than were originally recorded in the black books (I don't know the exact figure). you even get peregrines in London and new york.
