I know HP are saying that they are safe but I would like to find out for my own curiosity. My Laptop is a Compaq Presario V4000 series and the battery is a HP 383493-001 and to find out if it is or isnt Sony made would really ease my mind.

Sony makes batterys for lots of companies, so far, batteries have been recalled by Apple, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, IBM and Dell and HP have said that Sony make some of its batteries but they didnt say which, I just wanna know if mine was to ease my concerns.

I have a Compaq Presario also, and my understanding is that this has only affected Apple computers, which is why Apple has made the recall. HP would've done the same if it used a Sony battery in its computers.
