I am watching the news & my heart is broken over this "thing" that has violated the Amish community & killed so many of their youth.
It is horrendous to do this in any community but it especially vile to desecrate such a peace-loving group of people.

People are afraid of what they don't understand.
Look at history and all the persecution of all the things common society couldn't grasp, and look at how they destroyed it.

It's the same reason people "tag" buildings. Most people want to be "remembered" even if it's for something horrific. Look at the guy that "admitted" to killing Jon Bennett. I also have a strong belief that it is also caused by parents who don't spank their kids, hear me out. When a kid does something wrong and you spank them, they associate pain with what they have done, so they don't do it again. We have become a society that "feels" for people rather than expecting consequences for their actions, we cuddle them and say that they shot the school because they didn't get hugged enough. We as a society pander to people with sick and twisted minds, we ignore the cause and just put band aids on the results. I find it hard to believe that people just snap. Somebody that knew these people saw a problem and they put a band aid on it rather than trying to figure out why the person was acting in a particular way. All I can say is don't be paranoid but be observant of the people around you. Don't take everything so lightly and hope that it's a "phase", stop allowing people to get away with atrocities because they had a bad childhood, and stop "feeling sorry" for psychotic people.

pathetic. rediculous. sad.

Violence is glorified through the television, and every other media strain. The military glorifies violence. There are not adequate funding or resources for social awareness and reform programs. Not enough support for people in need. Not enough support for poor under educated communities. It is a capatalistic society, one that breeds frustration, and feelings of insignificance.

Social norms are changing with the ever increasing population density. People are trrying to stand out. People are trying to make political, personal, or religieous statements through violence.

Pretty grim thoughts, but personally, I take great comfort in knowing I am a good man, a good husband, and a good friend. Every good person effects numerous other people, and that is a very effective way to create change.

To answer what is wrong with this world...just take a look at family structures, t.v., books, games and the internet.
Family structure has gone to pot in most families. Kids are left to watch what they want on t.v., play the games they want and are left alone with the internet. Parents are using electricity to watch their children. Parents now days don't know who their kids are hanging out with or what these friends are doing or who the friends parents are. How many families sit down to meals every single day?? Not enuff. Some that do, there's a t.v. on or nobody connects with each other. As parents, we aren't allowed to disipline our children. I'm not saying beat the hell out of them, but we can't even ground our children and physically keep them in the house without breaking the law. Parents are afraid to ask for help because of the fear of looking like a bad parent. We have kids having kids now days. Parents are the key.
As a society, we need to keep our eyes open and report things that send off a warning bell. We see things that don't sit right with us, but say nothing. Its not our business, so why meddle?
Even tho our flag represents this country we can't pledge allegence to it cuz it says "one nation under God". Our money has the word God on it, our nation itself was built by religous ppl. Yet we can't pray in school, can't read the bible in our schools, etc. God (or who ever He is called based on your beliefs) has been taken away from us. Its ok on Sundays, but the rest of the week, we're not allowed to practice our religion freely. Yet when kids get shot in schools, parents kill their children and so on, ppl ask "where was God?". Well, He's been ousted from our lives because it offends others.
If we want to make changes in this country...take a look at our lives and make a honest assesment of how we live. Make the changes that need to be made. We need to do this everyday, not just when something makes the news!!!

There is no answer to this. The evil that learks in this country is disgusting. God is watching and we are in for some big changes down the road. We have lost our morals and beliefs. I hate to say this but mock my word, this country is going to sh-it in a shoe-box.

it is sad that people have to hate and be hated, it is a learned behavior, I keep reminding my kids that all people are different.. race, culture, whatever, but they have to remember that every-ones blood bleeds red, they might not like someone in school but they don't need to treat them different, all people should be treated with respect, all we can do is teach our own young to be decent in life and hope they remember our words and pass them on to their little ones later in life, or when they are watching their friends belittle someone they tell them they are people just like them... and be nice,,, but people that can do mean things to people it is a learned action, someone had to teach them to be hurtful,

When the leader of a society is a mass murderer, why is it shocking that members of that society model his behavior?
