Well, if the brat was going around slapping the dog, what did your friend expect? Should the dog be killed just because of this? Absolutely not. Stand firm, and keep Henry safe. He's been through enough already. As for the kid, she'll heal, and maybe, just maybe, she'll learn how to act around animals.

Tell your friend to shove it. No dog should have to put up with being physically tormented by an out-of-control child. Your friend was irresponsible in the extreme to keep a dog around a child that she knew to be aggravating the animal. How is this the dog's fault, exactly? If you hit any living being enough, it'll snap. Please find Henry a decent home, not a hellish pit like he's been forced to live in thus far. And if your so-called "friend" isn't talking to you now, it shows just how much of a true friend she was to begin with.

Keep the dog and tell her that you just want what is best for both. Killing the dog will not teach her child to behave or not hit other dogs. It sounds like your friend has lived on this victim rant and has her family members insisting on this. This killing isn't for her but her family. It sounds as if she doesn't do a damn thing accept be a victim. By the way for a lab to do that you that kid would have to have been really mean!

You should give Henry away to a no kill shelter or to another friend so she can't give you any crap about the dog. When you do talk to her again, let her know that killing animals like that is a crime, complete with a huge fine and time in prison. That way you can be saving the dog, saving your friend from being incarcerated, and wash your hands of this mess completely.

She gave you the dog and it is now your decision to give this dog a chance. Obviously the dog had no business being around 4 year old dog slapping kids, but maybe you can teach this dog some manners and turn it around. If she is really your friend she will get over it.

oh my god. thankfully the child wasnt hurt but murdering an animal is not the answer. its horrible that she would want to do that to any creature especially this dog. i dont suggest you give in to her demands. keep the dog and just try and talk to her about how ridiculous this is. i could understand if the child was severely hurt. if the dog has no past problems with being harmful or has shown any lately besides that incident, he shouldnt have his life taken away. she'll eventually come to her senses and realize its not the way to go.

Well, she adopted the dog when he was 3. The dog probably had never been around children before that. If I was a dog, and some kid was slappin me around, I'd bite too. That's nature for god sakes.
Don't kill the dog, your friends will get over it.

first, you should know why your friend change her opinion so fast. Maybe she knows something you don't. Talk to her about it. also you do not told us how hard the dog attacked, if the dog gave him a small bite or bark, your friend is overreacting, the dog can not said stop it! I do not like be your personal punch bag!. if the dog bite him hard you should send him to sleep
