When you know another language, you learn your first language better and understand the grammar better.
Also, it's fun to know another language. I am fluent in Spanish and have had lots of fun listening to Latinas on the elevated train in Philadelphia talking trash in Spanish about people around us. I would turn to them in Spanish and say that I understood everything they said then would get off the train. Looking back, they were staring at me, completely shocked that I understood.

The more languages you know, the more people you can communicate with and learn from - and as nido says above - the more eavesdropping you can have fun with!

It's better. You can talk to more people than just those who speak English. It's good for trips. Good for knowing for those just in case times.
