I'm amused by Republicans and neo-cons who just roll their eyes and sarcastically dismiss the matter of the U.S. torturing POWs. It's like they want it to happen but want to pretend that it isn't, because they know there is no moral or political ground on which to defend their position.

The more power you have to change the world, the more you have to deny your responsibility for its insanity.
The Republicans are standing on a platform of fair 'competition' and hard work in the middle of a society full of people who expect 'someone' to 'save' them from the gloom they see on the horizon where the climate, the economy, and their communities are collapsing.
The collapse is directly connected to the lassaiz faire attitude of the Economy as God. It isn't just the Republicans, but they happen to be the ones in the spotlight right now, and they can't even pretend to TRY to stop the train or they will have to admit there are no brakes on it.
The root of the problem is our consumption and the Corporations that are enabling it. If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is your life and your vote, and the machines don't count people.

And why do you persist in your generalizations that every conservative is that way? I do not deny that there are Republicans and conservatives who would do such a thing, but my experience in that realm has been with the Democrats and liberals. It's been shocking to me since I always thought that they were supposed to be the ones with the open-minds. I have attempted many, many times to actually discuss with liberals and find out what they think about things and why they think that. I've given evidence myself and every single liberal has either ignored it and refused to discuss that then or have resorted to personal insults. I've got the emails if you'd like to see them as evidence or would you rather persist in your little bubble world of generalizations--and ignorance?

Spirit Walker just isolated the reactionary dreamworld state you described.
A "realist" is not a (laughs) religous zealot like Spirit Walker.
Someone whine now about me being disrepectful towards religion! Hate my freedom of Speech why dontcha!

Most mature people rep or Dem would probably answer the question with an answer. But, I have notice that a lot those people are not on Yahoo answers. So you are left with the Rush want to Be's who are not to give any meaningful answers but to prove that they are right because their puppet master is the best.

They are in such a state of denial because the foundation they've built their world view upon is collapsing. Watching their reaction to the Foley scandal just makes you pity them. And wonder how stupid they finally think everyone is.

Republicans are NOT in a state of denial, we just DON'T view the world through rose colored glasses, as the Demorats do. The "R" in Republican is for Realist.
