A way of living..a boring way..but none the less a way...
it isn't a cult because the Amish lets there people out into society to have a choice..cult or Religion doesn't want you to think you have a choice..

Check out the website below for some answers to your questions. Personally, we have a large Amish population around my area (lower Delaware) that we are very proud of. We do not view them as a cult, since they do not do any missionary work to get others into their culture, and members are allowed to leave if they wish, though it is frowned upon. They do follow a strong religious base, but since their beliefs extend so deeply into their entire lives, it is more of a living lifestyle, as you say. While it is, probably, ultimately doomed, they are still wonderful neighbors to have. They work hard, charge less for their services, do extremely good work and are very peacable. Everyone should be so lucky as to have them around -- we could learn a lot from them.

its a way of liveing lifestyle for them. there no different than u or i. the only thing is thay dont belive in havine some things lik e tvs computers and things like that. now if there the green amish ppl than thay do have tvs and stuff

just like christianity and islam right? some consider them a cult. I think we all need to pray and if you dont pray say a nice or solemn thought for those suffering from todays tragedy
