You know, the little dark lines they always have on their eyes? Why do they do that?

The usual scientific argument is to reduce the glare but it also gives them a "warrior" look which can give them a psychological boost as well as intimidate their opponent

The paint is called eye black. It's supposed to draw the glare away from your eyes but is mostly used as a fashion statement nowadays.

Reduce the glare coming off their cheeks. Some use black tape instead of paint
