Kids are more resilient in mind and body. They don't view the place as the cause of the incident so they can easily dismiss it when it is over. Adults tend to dwell on things and don't let go which is why, I think, so many adults act like children!
When I was in high school (20 yrs. ago) there was a gang member shot and killed in our school by a rival gang member. Once the tape outline of the body was gone the kids moved on. The teachers continued to talk about it for months and some went so far as to never walk down that hallway again. I thought it was pretty silly because it's not like the body will get up and haunt you 'til you die.

That is a tough question, i think perhaps after a tremendous amount of intensive counseling. However, it this was something that my children had witnessed I would get them counseling and we would move away to another school district. I think that would really be to traumatizing for anyone. And maybe the reason so many children go back to the same school is because they are not the ones making the decisions and have no choice. Great thought provoking question.

I wouldn't quit. I would go back, yes. We can't build another school for the kids after stuff like this happens. They have to go back.

It's all about the lawyers. It doesn't do any good to sue someone who doesn't have money (the school).
