I only like war movies of the past, with swords, axes, and arrows. Movies with guns aren't that great, it just doesn't allow much for character exploration and development. Braveheart is one of all time favorite war movies, especially the more gorey version, not the edited one. I tend to like more historically accurate movies, that way we the audience, know that there isn't much exaggeration. One recent one I watched was "The Legend of Suriyothai," it was pretty decent, sort of long though, but it was in Thai. You should give it a shot, get some more perspective on global cultures.
