Yoda said Qui Gon found a way back, but didnt say how he did it. He told Obi Wan he would teach HIM how to reach Qui Gon, not the other way around.

Those who achieve immortality through the force like Qui-gon
and later Yoda and Obi-Wan achieve it by being utterly in balance with the force,by truly being exactly as the force would have them be.
