You should wait until your 3 weeks late. Because you cant tell if your pregnant with a home pregnancy test until around that time...you cant find out if ur pregnant 3-5 days after you have sex...lol

some of the more sensitive tests can be positive four days before the first day of the missed period. Generally you ovulate between 12-18 days after the first day of your period. A male sperm usually will live between 3-5,sometimes 7 days(super sperm...) in your body, and your egg only lasts one day. So, if you had sex 5 days before you ovulated, you'd have to wait five days for the egg to meet the sperm, then, you'd have to wait a day for it to travel down the fallopian tube, then you'd have to wait 5-6 more days for the fertilized egg to implant. You PROBABLY won't feel symptoms during this period because the egg probably isn't producing pregnancy hormones untill it implants. I said probably because everyones different, and maybe it does.
Once it produces hormones, your levels double every two to three days. Non-pregnant women have a hormone level of between 0-5. The sensitive tests can dectect a level of 25. Others detect levels of 100 or more.
So, if you ovulated on the day that you had intercourse, already had a hormone level of 5, and the egg started producing hormones right away, you could take a sensitive test one week after intercourse and have it be positive. That's a lot of ifs.
Lets do the other extreme, lets say you ovulated five days after intercourse and then got pregnant, you normally have a level of 1, the egg doesn't produce untill it implants, and the hormones double every three days. If you take a not so sensitive test, you should be positive 33 days after sex.
See the variation? So, if you want to test between 7-14 days after ovulation, use your first mornin urine, and don't test more often then once every other day, because you're wasting the test. If you don't get a positive 33 days after sex, and you haven't gotten your period, see a gyno, because you might not be ovulating, and that could be a sign of a problem.

if you suspect that you are pregnant then use a hpt. the pregnancy hormone Hcg doesnt take very long to show up in your blood stream or urine flow. its recommend to wait until you missed your period but its always possible to get a positive test beforehand. Dont doubt your intuitions
