or even better that if you know a crime has been committed or will be committed and you did nothing about it, do you believe that is just as bad as committing the crime?

Not quite as bad, but bad enough. For example, if the person murdered someone -- they have committed an horrific crime. If you knew for sure they were going to do that, you should get the same punishment, in my opinion. However, if this were someone who was always teasing and just said "I sure wish he were dead" or "I wish I could kill that guy", then I don't think you are AS guilty. However, you should ask questions to find out if there is a problem.

I don't care how you are related to a person -- if they are going to commit a crime, you should call law enforcement.
