If my life is not perfect and in order I do not function properly. For instance, I am only off work one day a week. Sunday. Well yeaturday my family was celebrating my sister's birthday in Cleveland so I did not have a chance to clean my apartment. When I woke up this morning I felt so stressed out about it, I called off work just so I could clean. And If I don't work out and eat breakfast and lunch before I go to work, I will be bothered by that the whole day and I won't pack myself a lunch because I feel like I let myself down for not following my schedule. I will also feel anxiety all day today because I called off work, but I must have a clean apartment in order for the rest of my week to run smoothly. What's wrong with me?

If this is controlling your life, it could be a compulsive "mental problem". We all have our quirks, but if it is to the point that you can not move on with your day- perhaps you should bring it up to a Dr.- I know that is easier said then done, because going to a Dr. is not exactly free. But really, if this is making you miss work, let alone - miss out on anyhthing, maybe it is worth it. There are so many medications out there, and they are out there for a reason. Nobodies perfect, you should not be so hard on your self. It sounds like you work a LOT. You could just feel like your losing control, by not keeping your place clean, and keeping up w/ your regular routine. - Everyone reaches a burn out point at some time. Maybe that's all it is. But you are asking for help, so you realize something is not right. You sound like a good employee, perhaps make an appointment w/ a general practice Doc. - he may just recommend you take some time off. Life is noto short to spend your time being anxious about cleaning, and little things like that. You are only human, don't forget that. Good luck!!

It sounds like minor OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). A low dose of an antidepressant should help with anxiety and make life a little smoother.

It's only my personal opionion, but I don't think you have a mental problem. I think we all do this from time to time, it's just a matter of degree. Now if it really startst to interfere with your life, that's another matter and you should think about counseling.
