Okay don't listen to the AMD people who are not up on news, the Intel Core 2 Duo is faster, period and I will include a link to the benchmarks. I seriously have answered about 20 questions on this topic and everytime you see all the AMD people just making stuff up. I would suggest the Dell XPS 700, it is their top of the line and should have all the features you are looking for.

yes, and?

AMD processor 3 gig or higher
4 gig of RAM, match the ram speed to the processor for maximum performance.
SATA RAID 5 for max performance and data security. Install a scsi tape drive for data backup.
Use either a Nvidia SLI(dual cards) or ATI Crossfire for best performance.
most mainboard have onboard sound which is fine, IMO creative labs cards are really good for sound too.
get a powersupply that has a rating hire than the total power you need NOTE: loads of devices are accumulative and so, literally, the more you pay for a power supply the better it will likely be.

A "super computer" usually is made up of several computers..... which I don't think is what you are talking about. Like a really good gaming pc.... Get amd athlon 64-bit FX processor with a supporting motherboard... pci express sli compatible... maybe get a phyics video card. 10,000 rpm sata hard drives with raid 0 configuration would be ideal. At least 2 GB of ram.
