Confidence is a feeling of certainty and self assurance about what you can do. Know thyself. Do a self analysis to determine what your strengths and weaknesses are. Find ways to minimise your weaknesses (eg If your job requires you to do PPT presentations and you cannot use the PPT software then take computer classes to address that weakness), and capitalise on your strengths.
You can prepare for an interview by aligning the job requirements with your personal achievements. Naturally, some of the questions asked in an interview will be questions related to the job requirement and how well you fit those requirements. It is therefore necessary for you to anticipate the questions that the interviewer will ask and practise answering them.
Finally, you want to negotiate a salary. Allow the interviewer to raise the salary issue. Salary negotiations are usually done during the 2nd or 3rd interview. Check online to determine what the industry pays for your specific occupation so that you will not be short changed. You can use the industry average along with your experience and qualification to come up with a figure higher than the industry average and use that as a starting point for negotiation. When asked about salary, some candidates just ask the interviewer how much he usually pay employees in that position. Based on the response given, your qualification and your knowledge of what the industry pays, you can negotiate for a salary. Good luck!

If you practice in front of a mirror you will see your face and your expressions. Do you look scared? Or are you smiling when you introduce your self? I pretend someone is asking me questions and I answer them. I have even taped myself answering.
