There's you answer.

There is, apparently , only sanctity of life when & where someone says there is.

If there were conclusive evidence that killing murderers lowered the homicide rate, there would be a basis for capital punishment: instead there is not. Most murders are commited in blind rage when the killer has lost their sense of reason, proportion or ability to assess consequences. Killing them accomplishes nothing.
Living the rest of their lives with the knowledge of what they have done is worse.(and cheaper given the usual number of appeals)
Additionally, there is a disproportionate number of minority individuals who are put to death versus whites who commit equivalent crimes. DNA testing has shown an alarming number of convictions have been of individuals who could not possibly have been the perpetrator but where in the wrong place @ the wrong time, or who looked like the perpetrator, etc.etc

Humans have strong psychological mindsets to be protective of babies - it was necessary for us as a species to survive given how helpless babies are. There is no such mechanism for grownups.

It's actually a very easy distinction.
Killing of the innocent or killing of the guilty.
To kill an innocent is reprehensible (Don't think a fetus is an innocent human being check the facts about DNA and the lack of any illegal or immoral activity of the unborn).
Killing of a person by use of the death penalty is also pretty straight forward. The only way to protect society from these predators is to remove them from the earth. Convicts escape, convicts somehow get parole inspite of their sentence. Sorry but they return tosociety to cause additional harm.
Killing the dangerous for a societal good or killing of the unborn for a choice? It's easy to see the difference.

I agree with you completely. It seems like a pretty obvious moral line to me, yet many people have no problem objecting to abortion on grounds of murder, but supporting the death penalty. Personally, I'm very much against both. I don't really think it's our place to kill anyone for any reason. Let's leave that judgment to a higher power.

Not really.

The unborn have not had a chance to live and to make choices in life. They are innocent, and deserve a chance to live.

The criminal covicted of a capital offence on the other hand, has lived, knows right from wrong, and has to be resonsible for their actions and choices. Think of people like Tim McVeigh and Ted Bundy, how is it cruel to end their lives after they had murdered and tortured so many?

Making this comparison is like comaring apples and oranges, they are not the same thing.

Pro-Life people should be against capital punishment, in theory. However, I am against abortion not necessarily a "Pro-Life" person although because that is how we seperate the pro-abortion anti-abortion crowd that would be my label. So thus, I believe you can be anti-abortion and support the death penalty.

What you call "Pro-life" of course are no pro -life. It is one of the many terms that the right wing Republicans started to dream up more than 20 years ago to alter the languag. They are really against abortion, not pro-life or pro- health care. You are, of course, correct.

Yeah, East of Eden said it best. I don't understand how you can call any of us hypocrits. How can you not think you are contradicting yourself when you are willing to kill an innocent baby, but let a criminal live?

If innocent and guilty have nothing to do with life, why should you care whether a guilty criminal dies? You're happy to kill a baby.

A life is a life, no matter if it's "innocent". I agree with you.

A baby is innocent, while killers and rapists and child molesters are far from innocent and deserve the ultimate punishment.

Your 'question' is bogus. We want to protect the innocent and kill the worst criminals.
You in the Left, want to kill the innocent and protect the guilty.
