Front end rounding (also called truncation) consists of simply dropping digits to the right of the last significant digit (usually the one's digit).
examples:
2.5321 ~ 2
2.4986 ~ 2
5.001 ~ 5
6.9989 ~ 6

Regular rounding consists of shifting the number to the next closest significant digit, be it up or down. Put simply, if the highest digit that you eliminate is a five or greater, the last significant digit increases by one. If it's a four or less, the last significant digit remains the same.
examples:
2.5321 ~ 3
2.4986 ~ 2
5.001 ~ 5
6.9989 ~ 7
