YES ! double glazing firms are expensive, any decent local carpenter could do it, ask around locally for recommendations.

My partner is a double glazing fitter and said u can pick a door up for around £400 .. as for wether it to much to pay or not depends on size and how many windows its got or if its mostly panels .. you need to get quotes off of companies dont just use big well known ones theres plenty of small firms with good reputations that dont have the overheads that big companies do and keep their prices low because of the need for work ..

You have several options really.... if your capable of doing the job your self (which is easy) the likes of Wickes sell complete double glazed units for under £100.00 depending on size. If you have a window in a wooden frame then to double glaze it would mean going to a glass shop with the size of the glass and getting them to make just a double glazed glass unit to fit into your existing frame. This will only cost about £20.00 if you shop around or unless the window is over 1 metre square.

That's about $2000 US. I can get a whole house done for about $3600 US. It sounds like you are being taken. Get several estimates.
