It depends on how low. Can be pretty serious.

When you ovulate, a cyst forms on the ovary: the corpus luteum. This cyst produces progesterone until the placenta has developed enough to start producing progesterone on its own, around 12 weeks. Progesterone is required to maintain the pregnancy. Sometimes the corpus luteum isn't large enough or strong enough to produce enough progesterone to maintain the pregnancy. Docs check progesterone levels and can give supplemental progesterone to help keep the pregnancy.

I have low progesterone with this pregnancy. I am currently 7 months along. The doctor's scared the h@ll out of me too when explaining it. It is a very serious thing. Low progesterone can lead to miscarriage or early labor.
Thankfully, there is medicine that can help. You can either take the pill, the suppository or the shot. I chose to take the suppositories because I didnt have time to go back and forth to the dr's office for the shots. The suppositories are messy and you have to take them twice a day. If you're anything like me, you fall asleep quickly or just plain forget to take it.
If you get a choice, do the shot because it's more convienent. Good luck and try not to worry. Just get some sort of medicine and pray. I'll keep you in my prayers.

The hormone progesterone is integral for keeping a healthful being pregnant. Insufficient stages might effect in miscarriage. Early in being pregnant the progesterone is made by means of the small cyst within the ovary referred to as the corpus luteum. After approximately 9 to ten weeks the placenta must be generating ample progesterone to help the being pregnant. Low progesterone that explanations miscarriage is more commonly notion to be from insufficient creation from the corpus luteum. Progesterone cure is risk-free and quite affordable, however stories proving its effectiveness have now not been conclusive.

I had low progesterone levels as well. Unfortunately, I had four miscarriages before they figured that out. When they did figure it out, I was actually pregnant already for the fourth time. They put me on suppositories - they did not work which resulted in my fourth miscarriage. I had to actually do the progesterone shots, one shot everyday in the butt for the 12 weeks. They worked fine. When I got pregnant again (my girls are 13 months apart) I had to do the shots again. Once you have low levels, most likely you will have to do whatever you were doing for all. I was told my levels may get stronger with each pregnancy and may not need anything...but then again, why take the chance? I'll be honest, it was not fun with the shots, and I'm definitely done now. Good Luck to you.

I did. My doctor put me on suppositories and pelvic rest (no sex) until week 12. But it worked because I have a healthy 3 month old!
