I was driving the car and it turned off all of a sudden. It will not start up again. The engine turns fine. The following parts are good:
-Timing belt still intact
-Battery with a good charge
-engine turns over
-Ignition coil in distributer is good. Primary coil has less than 1 ohm resistance. Secondary coil has 12K ohms resistance.
-Replaced ignition control module
I know there's no spark because I take a spark plug wire out and I see no spark when trying to start it.

I'm baffled as to what else it could be. The car has 286,000 miles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Additional Details:

Checked the fuses under dash and under hood. They are all good. When key switched in the on position the "check engine" light turns off after two seconds indicating it's not a sensor because there are currently no stored fault codes.

I've had the exact same problem These and other foreign cars have separate power leads for the ignition system from the battery. This was the source of my problem (a corroded power terminal) check to ensure voltage is reaching ignition system. Any white powdery substance on battery or any other connection needs to be cleaned. Also ensure all grounds are clean and secure. Dielectric grease or if in a pinch Vaseline will deter re-contamination.

i'm somewhat particular it has some thing with the distributor!! examine the rotor interior the distributor if it spun out of place this might create no spark and wack the timing off!! If this would not do the job exchange the full distributor, grab one out of your community scrapyard it quite is lots extra value-effective than procuring new. vendors are the only component that are everyday to bypass on Honda civics with that style of mileage!! stable luck!!!
