My school has banned students from listening to music durring class work. The only time we are allowed to listen to music is durring a study hall or lunch. Some students like to listen to music while they work to help them concentrate. So what I would like to know is your opinions on this matter.

your school sucks
i think that they should let the students listen to music in class.
at my school its the teachers choice. unfortunatly not all of my teachers allow me to. i would like to for this one teacher who is the most annoying teacher that i have ever had in my life. she never shuts up. music does let me concentrate.
i think the problem is that some of the students at your school were playing their music to loud in class.

I think the school made this rule because there were problems.
The students who like to can listen to music while they study at home. I think if people are listening to music during classes, it would mean they might not hear instructions from the teacher. Which could be a problem. THey might not hear about assignments or a field trip or whatever the teacher is saying. I think a student blocking their ears from communication from a teacher could cause misunderstandings. That's probably why they did it. I guess you could start a movement or petition to change this or let the teachers make their own decisions in class.

As a mother of 2 boys (14 and 10) I have to say NO. I myself love to listen to music, especially when on an airplane but I do notice that I zone out and lose sight of what's being said or going on around me. Listening during study hall or lunch is fine. Let's remember that the reason kids go to school is to learn. There is also the "respect" issue toward the teacher...would YOU want to be teaching someone that isn't giving you 100% of their mind?

I think that students should be able to listen to music in school as long as it is through an MP3 or something. Music helps me concentrate and feel better. It is amazing how the right song can really make you do something better than if there was no music. Heck, even cows give more milk when the right type of music is played!

Yes, however, no one should be forced to listen to music while they study. What commonly happens is that the music attracts just enough attention to distract students from realizing how boring their studies are. This is why I like music when I study.
Some students, however, are unable to concentrate on their schoolwork with music in the background. To them it is quite distracting, and therefore if there are people like this in the class, a teacher should be sensitive to that.

i think you should be allowed to listen to music depending on the type of music. like nothing with bad words or anything since it is school. at my school we can't listen to music anytime during the day.

I agree with your school. No music in the classrooms. At lunch & study hall (and at home) is enough.

No, because everyone doesn't like the same music and some people find it distracting.
